Chassis – StreetJam ST-F01
Motor – Hobbywing Xerun 21.5 (Handout)
ESC – Hobbywing Justock Club Spec (Handout)
Batteries – Speed Energy
Tires – Ride (handout)
Radio/Servo – Sanwa
Bodyshell – StreetJam McLaren MP-48
Remarks – Best known as the frontman for ETS tyre supplier Ride, Thai based French driver Ludo is running a brand new chassis from StreetJam. The Japanese company, well known in Asia for its drift cars, is bringing some innovation in the Formula class, with the biggest feature being the rear pod linkage. It consists of a 3 ball system that allows the rear pod to remain parallel to the ground throughout the whole suspension travel. The interesting rear end also sports two shocks instead of the usual single flat shock. The front end is characterised by adjustable front width – useful to adapt the car to foam tires – and an interesting multiple position caster block, that allows four different setting from 3° to 9°.

Chassis – VBC Racing Wildfire DO6
Motor – MuchMore 4.5
ESC – MuchMore
Batteries – Silverback
Tires – Ride (handout)
Radio/Servo – Sanwa/Futaba
Bodyshell – Protoform LTC-R

Remarks – Very fast on what is to consider his home track, the French VBC driver is running an example of the DO6 that sports numerous development parts that he is not allowed to elaborate on. He is using a rear end that features an active toe-in system similar to the one presented during the week by Serpent, and Lucas said it has proved to be faster than the normal rear end since the first run. He is also using narrower front blocks as on this track he is looking for the maximum amount of steering possible.

Chassis Focus – Leo Arnold

Chassis – Team Magic E4RS II Evo
Motor – Orion 4.5
ESC – Orion
Batteries – Orion
Tires – Ride (handout)
Radio/Servo – Spektrum/Savox
Bodyshell – A Plus Speed 30B

Remarks – On a new venture in to the world of electric touring car racing with Team Magic, the French Nitro driver is having a good time here in Luxembourg running his Orion powered E4RS II Evo. The car sports a few key options, such as the TM 3D flex system, which Leo set to confer the minimum flex to the chassis, metal gears in the rear differential and aluminium pulleys on the spur gear axle. He is also using 1mm shims below the upper deck as this gives him a more precise, easier to drive car.

Chassis – Team Durango DETC 410
Motor – Orca 4.5
ESC – Orca

Tires – Ride (handout)
Radio/Servo – Sanwa
Bodyshell – Protoform LTC-R
Remarks – The British driver is running an out of the box example of the new TD touring car which he just built Wednesday night before setting off for Luxembourg. Even in terms of setup, he is using a standard configuration, the only noticeable things being the addition of weights to the front end and the dremeling of the c-hub steering travel stops to allow for a bigger steering angle.

Chassis Focus – Marek Cerny

cernyCF

Chassis – Xray T4 ’14
Motor – MuchMore (handout)
ESC – MuchMore (handout)
Batteries – LRP 6000 110C
Tires – Ride (handout)
Radio/Servo – Sanwa/Savox
Bodyshell – Protoform Mazda Speed6

Remarks – Czech ace Cerny is running a pretty standard version of the T4’14, even though he has made several changes from the last race in Mattsee in terms of setup. The biggest changes are lower roll centres in the front end and a narrower track width meant to make the car more aggressive and confer more steering and therefore corner speed. A noticeable equipment choice is the 6000 LRP LiPo pack which Marek prefers over the heavier 7200 versions.

Chassis Focus – David Spashett

SpashettCF

Chassis – ARC R10 2013
Motor – G-Force 4.5
ESC – LRP Flow
Batteries – Trinity
Tires – Ride (handout)
Radio/Servo – Spektrum
Bodyshell – Blitz TSX

Remarks – The 4 time World & 13 time European Champion is at his first big race with his ARC chassis with the event also marking his debut in the ETS, one of the sport’s all time greats having stopped racing touring cars just the season before the series took life back in 2008. His R10 features a brand new chassis that is still at a prototype stage. Sporting a different outer shape, the design of the new graphite platform is meant to drastically change the flex, taking it away from the front and rear end and bringing it to the centre of the car. This solution also provides a single flex instead of two different movements, and it’s meant to make the car handle more precisely especially in the sweepers.

New in the pits

sun_teamc3

Following what seems to be one of the most stable markets in the industry, TeamC is showing new commitment to the touring class and was present here at the ETS with their new car called the TC10. Pretty quick in the hands of Siedl and Botzenhart who both made the Xray Pro-stock A-Main, the new platform seemed to be off to a competitive beginning.

Good news also came for Awesomatix owners, who will now be able to precisely measure their caster adjustments thanks to the smart tool that the guys at fun-brush.com designed and produced. Made to be used on both the front and rear hubs, the system uses a digital pitch gauge – sold together with the kit – to allow maximum precision on the fully adjustable Russian made chassis’ geometries.

Andreas Myberg’s AME have debuted their new line of servoe with the new “z.z6” (the name recalling the nice speed of 0.06 seconds) that will be produced in two versions, one featuring a built-in mount which is suitable for Xrays, Yokomos as well as other brands of cars, while the second is a classic mount version.
